The expert assessed the consequences of leaving Nokia from Russia
MOSCOW, August 30 – PRIME. A technological collapse in Russia will not occur due to the departure of the Finnish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Nokia from the country, despite the company’s high market share, Deputy Executive Director of the NTI Competence Center for Big Data of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov Egor Shitov.
On Monday, Reuters, citing an unnamed representative of the company, reported that the Finnish Nokia plans to completely leave Russia by the end of the year.
“The company’s share was about 40% of all telecommunications equipment. Despite this, one should not expect that such a decision could cause a large-scale technological collapse,” Shitov said.
The expert also added that at the moment, companies from China, the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the Korean Peninsula have successfully begun to occupy the niche of departed foreign brands.
