Earlier Thursday, Telegram founder Pavel Durov said that due to security issues in WhatsApp, hackers can gain full access to everything on users’ phones. The head of Telegram also noted that WhatsApp is not facing a similar problem for the first time, which indicates the prospects for new security flaws.

“Today, WhatsApp operates on an end-to-end encrypted protocol, or end-to-end encryption, which means that the correspondence and exchange of files that two people produce between themselves, they are not stored on servers, but are stored only on the devices of two people who communicate with each other exchange information,” Zykov said.

The expert also added that “periodically, special services from different countries turn to WhatsApp so that they make a backdoor.” Zykov recalled that there is an alliance of special services “Five Eyes”, which includes the special services of the United States, Great Britain, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

“They signed a memorandum in which they called on Meta* (the company that owns WhatsApp, Meta*’s activity is banned in the Russian Federation as extremist) to give them a backdoor – a special vulnerability that allows intelligence agencies to get into the application using this vulnerability,” the expert explained.

Zykov explained that “through the backdoor that WhatsApp leaves for the special services, attackers can also penetrate through them.”
