MOSCOW, 23 Aug — PRIME. The deal between Yandex and VK will allow each company to realize its interests, the Yandex team will develop new products, go further, VKontakte will expand its audience, while users will not notice the change in owners of the services they are used to, Ivan Abramov, deputy head of the economic committee of the Federation Council, believes.
Earlier on Tuesday, VK and Yandex signed documents on a deal under which VK will become the owner of the Zen and Novosti content platforms and transfer the Delivery Club service to Yandex. Thus, VK will receive the rights to the technologies and trademarks of the Zen and News services, which, after the closing of the deal, will become available on the dzen.ru portal, where other services and the Yandex search line will also be placed.
“I think that users will not notice the change in ownership of the services they are used to, including Yandex News,” Abramov told RIA Novosti.
In his opinion, every company will benefit from this agreement.
“Here VK is expanding its audience and its sphere of influence. Against the backdrop of the departure of Western social networks, new opportunities appear? And here companies are fighting for the market,” he said.
In turn, Yandex “receives funds for the development of its technologies in another area,” Abramov believes.
According to the legislator, the Yandex team will go further, as it has exhausted its capabilities in existing areas of activity, while VK will adapt existing products.
“We are waiting for new breakthroughs from Yandex, because they will receive funds (for this), and VK is expanding its activities,” Abramov concluded.
