The Geforce GTX 690 may be released in April

At the end of March, the Geforce GTX 680 was launched, which is thus the first in the Kepler generation. Now many are waiting for more models in lower price ranges, but before that it’s time for another graphics card for out of high school, more specifically a model with dual graphics processors.

Sources at the Taiwanese manufacturer tell SweClockers that the launch of the Geforce GTX 690 may take place as early as April, but adds that it all depends on when AMD releases the Radeon HD 7990. Nvidia does not want to be the first with dual 28 nanometer graphics processors but plans to versus after the competitor’s graphics card can be seen in the seams.

The Geforce GTX 690 contains two GK104s, the same graphics processor used for the GTX 680, which translates to 3,072 CUDA cores with two 256-bit memory buses and a total of 4 GB of GDDR5 memory (effectively 2 GB).

However, the clock frequencies are expected to be lowered a notch to keep power consumption and thus heat generation at manageable levels.
