The Geforce GTX 960 launches on January 22nd

The premiere of the Maxwell architecture in February with the Geforce GTX 750 series was followed in September by the performance models Geforce GTX 970 and GTX 980 and at the beginning of next year it is time for more price ranges. Next in line is the successor to the best-selling graphics card Geforce GTX 760.

SweClockers has previously reported that the Geforce GTX 960 will be unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, which kicks off on January 6. However, this only applies to an early press screening and the launch will take place a couple of weeks later, probably towards the end of the same month.

The information is now being strengthened by the Japanese Hermitage Akihabara, which claims that the formal launch will take place on January 22. In addition, it is revealed that the graphics card will have a single 6-pin PCI Express connector, which speaks for a TDP value below 150 W, as well as a price of 25,000 Japanese yen, corresponding to approximately 2,000 kronor including VAT.

Unlike current models in the Geforce GTX 900 series, the newcomer houses the new GM206 graphics processor with a 128-bit memory bus that is normally accompanied by 2 GB of GDDR5 memory. Despite the narrow memory bus, the Geforce GTX 960 is predicted to perform on a par with the GTX 770.
