The government decided to create a new operator of the Sakhalin-1 project

MOSCOW, 13 Oct – PRIME. The government of the Russian Federation decided to create a new Sakhalin-1 LLC, a new operator of the project of the same name, with a place of registration in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, follows from a document published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

On Sakhalin, a lawsuit was filed against the Sakhalin-1 operator Exxon Neftegas Limited
“Create a Sakhalin-1 limited liability company… The company’s location is the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk,” the resolution says.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, by his decree last Friday, ordered the government to create a new – Russian – operator of the Sakhalin 1 project, which will transfer the rights and obligations of Exxon Neftegaz limited.
The former operator of the Sakhalin-1 project, Exxon Neftegaz Limited (a subsidiary of ExxonMobil), owned a 30% stake in it. In March, the company announced its intention to withdraw from the project, and in April, the introduction of a force majeure regime, as a result of which the project was almost stopped. At the moment, gas and oil production is completely stopped. Also, the participants of Sakhalin-1 are Rosneft (20%), Japanese Sodeco (30%) and Indian ONGC (20%).
