MOSCOW, 14 Sep — PRIME. How much oil and gas will be enough for Russia is a rhetorical question, but the answer to it depends on the person himself and technology, Sergey Gorkov, head of the Rosgeologiya company, said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
“How much is enough is a rhetorical question. Everything turned upside down. Last year, because of the “green agenda,” we heard that the world does not need oil, does not need coal, and now it’s a completely different story – hydrocarbons are in short supply,” — Gorkov said, answering the question of how much oil and gas will be enough for Russia, given the difficult situation with the demand for Russian energy resources and the need for companies to adapt to it.
“Therefore, everything will depend on the person himself and the technologies that he will use,” he added.
Gorkov noted that the refusal of a number of countries from Russian oil and gas has nothing to do with reserves. “I repeat, large companies have not reduced geological exploration, which is very encouraging and indicates that they are taking a responsible approach to their future. Because reserves and exploration are the future,” summed up the head of Rosgeologiya.
He also said that in Russia the problem of lack of investment in the industry is not acute, but investments are needed in new fields both in the Arctic and in Eastern Siberia.
“But if we talk about underinvestment in current assets, then, probably, to some extent it has existed since 2020, which was difficult for the market. But in general, I think that in Russia the issue is precisely the need to invest in new fields “, – concluded Gorkov.
