The head of the IAEA discussed with the head of the US Department of Energy the protective zone around the ZNPP

MOSCOW, 28 Sep — PRIME. Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi discussed with the head of the US Department of Energy Jennifer Granholm the creation of a protective zone around the Zaporozhye NPP.

“A busy meeting with Secretary of Energy Granholm today,” the head of the agency said.

According to the IAEA director general, the parties discussed a number of issues, including “current efforts to create a nuclear safety and protection zone at the ZNPP.”

Last week, Grossi began talks with Russia and Ukraine to establish a nuclear safety and security zone around the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. At the opening of the 66th session of the Agency’s General Conference on Monday, the IAEA Director General said he was ready to continue these consultations.
