The head of the IAEA spoke about the negotiations on the “safety zone” around the ZNPP

The annual session of the IAEA General Conference opened on Monday in Vienna. The event will last until September 30, it is attended by representatives of 175 IAEA member states, the agenda includes a number of topics, including problems of nuclear safety, security and safeguards in Ukraine.

According to Grossi, the situation at the ZNPP is unacceptable, and its resolution requires efforts.

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the plant has six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt each. Since March, it has been guarded by the Russian military to prevent leaks of nuclear and radioactive materials.
