The Hungarian Foreign Ministry said that the European Union did not set a “ceiling” for gas prices

MOSCOW, September 9 — PRIME. European energy ministers at the meeting of the EU Council did not reach a decision on the introduction of a “ceiling” of gas prices, limited themselves to political disputes. This was announced by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.

“Today, there was no decision, there was only a political dispute, which served as a guide for the European Commission. Currently, we expect that next week or the week following it, not only member states, but also the European Commission will come up with written, real proposals,” – said the Hungarian minister at the end of the meeting.

The European Commission has prepared for an extraordinary meeting of the heads of the EU Energy Ministry a document containing a number of emergency and temporary measures to mitigate the situation on the energy market. Among them is the introduction of a price limit for Russian pipeline gas.

Reuters, citing two unnamed European diplomats, said the proposal did not receive broad support from EU energy ministers. In addition, some countries called for a “ceiling” of prices for all imported “blue fuel”.
