BRUSSELS, September 9 — PRIME. The discussion by EU energy ministers on Friday of the possibility of limiting prices for gas imports shows that more work is needed on this issue, a source in the EU told RIA Novosti.
Media: the proposal on the “ceiling” of gas prices from Russia did not receive support
“The discussion shows that more work is needed on the possibility of introducing a cap price on imported gas,” he said.
The European Commission this week prepared a document for an extraordinary meeting of EU energy ministers, outlining a number of emergency and temporary measures that can be tried in the union to alleviate the situation on the energy market. Among them is the introduction of a price ceiling for Russian pipeline gas.
The proposal did not receive broad support from EU energy ministers at Friday’s meeting, Reuters reported, citing two unnamed EU diplomats.
Earlier it was also reported that some EU countries advocated the introduction of a limit not only on Russian “blue fuel”.
