The Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 will be released on April 22

As a result of overlays of older graphics cards, Nvidia has set out to launch its entire latest family of graphics cards – the Turing architecture. It is more than six months ago that Geforce RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti made their debut on store shelves and it is not until the spring that the company rounds off with the entry cards.

Videocardz now reports that Nvidia has announced to partner manufacturers that the launch of the Geforce GTX 1650 will take place on April 22. The model is thus placed under the newcomer GTX 1660 and can be expected to be a bit above today’s GTX 1050 Ti in terms of performance.

The same report also states that Nvidia will have a Geforce GTX 1650 Ti in the works, but that it will be released later than the GTX 1650. It is noteworthy that this is the first time such a model name comes up, as all previous information only spoke of a GTX 1650 (without Ti).

Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650 will be based on a new graphics circuit called TU117, which like TU116 in GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti is based on the architecture Turing but without Tensor cores for machine learning or RT cores for ray tracing. Hence the prefix GTX instead of RTX, which marks support for the new features.

While many details about the TU117 with associated graphics cards are still shrouded in obscurity, it has been virtually confirmed that it will get a 128-bit memory bus. It is paired with GDDR5 at an efficient clock frequency of 8,000 MHz, for a theoretical bandwidth of 128 GB / s. The capacity in the basic version will be 4 GB, a step up from the GTX 1050 which is sold in versions of 2, 3 and 4 GB GDDR5.

The data on clock frequencies and calculation units are more uncertain, but 896 CUDA cores have long been rumored. However, what are said to be tests of the Geforce GTX 1650 in Final Fantasy XV have found out on the web and according to these, the model performs just below a GTX 1060 with 3 GB GDDR5.

According to previous information, the recommended price for the Geforce GTX 1650 will land at USD 179, corresponding to SEK 2,100 including VAT. This is only $ 40 lower than the mid-range GTX 1660, which would make it difficult to fit a GTX 1650 Ti in between.
