The Security Council called the shelling of the ZNPP nuclear terrorism

MOSCOW, 6 Sep — PRIME. The shelling of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant by Ukrainian troops is interpreted by the UN criteria as acts of nuclear terrorism, said Yury Kokov, deputy secretary of the Russian Security Council.

The IAEA has published a report on the results of the mission to the Zaporozhye NPP
“Multiple shelling of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant generally goes beyond the scope of adequate actions and, according to all the qualifying signs defined by the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism adopted within the UN, is just such an act,” he said.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near the town of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity – the plant has six power units with a capacity of 1 gigawatt each. Since March, it has been guarded by the Russian military to prevent leaks of nuclear and radioactive materials.
The Ukrainian military continues to regularly shell Enerhodar and the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant adjacent to the city.
