The SilkRoad case - information that has not been published so far

Freeross.org has published a new documentary on the SilkRoad case on Youtube. Named “Silk Road Case: The Real, Untold Story”, the film includes over 400 references from different sources. Much of the information has not been published so far, although they were part of the process.

The history of Schumer’s case

When Ross launched Silk Road, he called the platform “an economic experiment on the free market.” He considered that:

“People should have the right to buy and sell whatever they want, as long as they don’t hurt someone else.”

Within months of the market launch, gawker.com published an article about Silk Road. It went viral and eventually came to the ears of politicians and law enforcement. Senator Chuck Schumer of New York called for immediate action against the Silk Road market in what has been called the “Schumer case”.

Passing responsibility

Ross claimed he lacked the technical knowledge and programming skills to drive a market as big as Silk Road. He asked for help from friends, but they avoided getting involved. Finally, he found an anonymous person to take responsibility for the site.

The new anonymous leader of Silk Road gave an interview in which he used the nickname “Dread Pirate Roberts”, a staff from the movie “The Princess Bride”.

Subsequently, the nickname was used by several developers who ran their activity on the dark web.

Suspects and corruption

The new documentary claims that former Mt Gox CEO Mark Karpeles was a prime suspect in the SilkRoad case. One of the agents in charge of the case said Mark Karpeles operated hundreds of sites, prompting authorities to believe he was capable of managing SilkRoad.

Apparently, another FBI agent took over the case and gave details about it to two agents who used the information in their personal interest. DEA agent Carl Mark Force and Secret Service agent Shaun Bridges were later found guilty of handling the case. They have also been accused of stealing millions of dollars worth of bitcoin.

The two-hour documentary details the investigation, arrest and investigation of authorities regarding Ross Ulbricht. The Freeross.org organization was formed to claim that the punishment received by the creator of Silk Road is too harsh given its facts.
