The situation after the explosion at the Pemex gas pipeline in Mexico is brought under control
MOSCOW, 27 Aug – PRIME. A fire on a gas pipeline in the Mexican state of Puebla, caused by an LPG leak at an illegal tie-in site, is under control, a press service of the Pemex corporation said.
“As a result of the action according to strict protocols, only material damage was recorded. However, work to localize the burning leak and restore normal conditions in the area continues, all risks are manageable,” the communiqué says on the Pemex website.
A secret gas intake was discovered by Pemex specialists at a gas pipeline site in the municipality of Amosok. According to the company, the LPG leak from the low-pressure pipe was due to artisanal welding.
According to local media, the gas explosion that occurred after the leak damaged three houses, one of the buildings burned down completely. The gas workers working at the site were able to move to a safe distance before the explosion.
The regional rescue service, together with the authorities of the municipality, activated a temporary shelter for residents of the houses closest to the scene of the incident.
