The Tomb Raider series will have a sequel, but we will not see it soon

The Tomb Raider franchise is set to celebrate its 25th anniversary this year. On this occasion, the Crystal Dynamics studio team, which has been working on games about Lara Croft for the past fifteen years, published a video dedicated to the anniversary, in which the developers, in addition to stories about their first meeting with the game Lara Croft, also casually touch on the topic of the further development of the franchise.

According to the developers, Crystal Dynamics has big and ambitious plans for the development of the Tomb Raider series. It is assumed that further events in the series will take place after the events described in the games that have already been released. In other words, no more offshoots, prequels and / or midquels, just chronological sequels. As the game director at Crystal Dynamics, Will Kerslake, clarifies, the studio will try to take into account and even in some way combine the timelines of both the classic games of the Tomb Raider series from Core Design and the modern parts, for which Crystal Dynamics was already responsible.

However, the announcement of the next Tomb Raider is not even a matter of a foreseeable future, so Kerslake advises fans of the franchise to be patient in advance.
