The United States banned the export and sale of quantum computing services to Russia
WASHINGTON, Sep 15 – PRIME The United States, as part of a new package of sanctions, is introducing a ban on the export, re-export and sale of quantum computing services to Russia from October 15, 2022, the US Treasury Department said on Thursday.
The United States will impose sanctions for supporting the use of the Mir system abroad
“The Treasury Department is taking additional action to deny Russia access to key services from US companies. Today, the Treasury issues a ruling prohibiting the export, re-export, sale or supply, directly or indirectly, from the United States or by a US person, wherever located, quantum computing services to any person located in the Russian Federation,” the US Department of the Treasury said in a statement.
About 30 Russian companies related to the production of microcircuits and quantum computing also fell under the restrictions of the US Treasury. Among them: Baikal Electronics, JSC Angstrem, Element and others.
The ban will take effect from January 00 (01:01 Moscow time) ET on October 15, 2022.
A new package of restrictions against Russia was adopted on Thursday, it is associated with the Russian-led special military operation in Ukraine.
