TRX40 Aorus Xtreme drives the charge of Gigabyte motherboards for the new Threadripper

Gigabyte he announced three motherboards based on TRX40 chipset compatible with the new Ryzen Threadripper 3000: TRX40 Aorus Master, TRX40 Aorus Xtreme and TRX40 Aorus Pro WiFi. The company also has a fourth model called TRX40 Designate, present on the website but not yet accompanied by images.

The socket of the TRX40 Aorus Xtreme it is powered by a VRM with 16 + 3 phases. The card comes with numerous connectivity options, four PCIe 4.0 x16 slots (two have access to only eight lines) and four M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 slots.

This card also benefits from Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, RGB Fusion, high-end audio circuitry based on the codec ALC 1220-VB, quad-channel memory support and dual BIOS with replaceable ROM chip.

The new TRX40 chipset has access to twice the PCIe lines of its predecessor, also enjoys the higher speed of PCIe 4.0 to offer top performance even with intense activities.

As a result, Gigabyte has equipped the motherboard with numerous cooling solutions. The VRM circuit has heat sinks, the M.2 slots have metal covers and the entire motherboard has a huge “heat shield”, not forgetting the 50mm fan to cool the chipset.

If your needs are not particular, TRX40 Aorus Master is TRX40 Aorus Pro WiFi could do more for you.

Both cards support quad-channel memory and one offer several PCIe slots. The TRX40 Aorus Master has a VRM circuit similar to the Aorus Xtreme model, with a 16 + 3 phase design. TRX40 Aorus Pro WiFI is satisfied with a 12 + 2 phase circuit.

Both of these motherboards also come with a trio of M.2 slots, each equipped with four PCIe 4.0 lines and with thermal covers.

Ultimately, TRX40 Pro WiFi is the “entry-level” proposal (if we can define a similar motherboard …), while the Master model is positioned in the medium / high range, allowing a better OC thanks to the more bodied VRM. TRX40 Aorus Xtreme is the solution for those who have money to waste.

Among other things, Xtreme and Designare integrate the AORUS Gen4 AIC Adapter in the bundle, a PCI Express 4.0 x16 adapter in card format that can accommodate four M.2 22110 SSDs, making each a PCIe 4.0 4x interface available.

The Designate also bundles another card called GC-Titan Ridge AIC which provides a DisplayPort, together with two Thunderbolt 3 (USB 3.1 Gen2 Type C) and two mini DisplayPort inputs.

Gigabyte did not disclose pricing information for these products, but, of course, expect very high figures, considering that processors start at $ 1399 tax-free.
