USA: Coinbase CLO appointed COO of the Office of the Currency Controller

The legal council of Coinbase, Brian Brook, will joinOffice of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) of the United States as COO.

On its website, the American organization announced that Brian Brook would become its next chief operating officer and first deputy controller, effective April 1, 2020.

Brian Brooks is a leader with extensive experience in the financial services industry. I look forward to working with him to ensure the stability of our financial system and its ability to foster greater economic growth for the benefit of all Americans, "said Treasury Secretary Steven T. Mnuchin.

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) is a state agency, based in Washington, and overseen by the United States Department of the Treasury, responsible for regulating and monitoring banks in the USA.

In the midst of a public and financial health crisis, we are reassured to know that Brian Brooks will play this vital role in overseeing the country's banking system. Brian is an accomplished leader who has been invaluable in shaping Coinbase's compliance programs, and in helping regulators better understand the opportunities and benefits of crypto, ”Commented a Coinbase spokesperson.

Although the press release does not mention digital assets, it is likely that Brook will contribute his experience in the matter acquired over the past two years spent at Coinbase, one of the largest crypto-brokers on the planet.
