What is Smart Lock on Android, the smart screen lock
– Take a look at these tips, tricks, and solution you can use to make your life much easier with your devices whenever problems arrive and complications which you may find difficult to deal with.

Setting the lock screen on Android is the easiest way to secure your phone from prying hands and eyes. But this security measure is also annoying. It is tiring to have to be unlocking the phone all the time, entering the lock pattern, pin or password every time you want to use it.

The security offered by the lock screen is essential and you cannot do without it, but it would be good if it is more flexible and allows you to configure exceptions: for example, that the screen does not lock when you are at home or in a place of confidence, or it won’t lock up while the phone is in your hand or pocket. This would make the user’s life much easier and less tedious.

And that’s exactly what it does Smart Lock, one of the best features that was introduced by Google in Android Lollipop 5. With this function activated, the following exceptions can be established, during which the screen lock will be disabled:

– Trusted devices: The lock screen is disabled as long as the phone is paired via bluetooth to a smartwatch or to the car audio system, for example.

– Trusted places– It will never be necessary to unlock the screen while in a trusted place preconfigured in Smart Lock (home, for example).

– Human body detection: is the highlight of Smart Lock. When this option is activated, the screen will remain unlocked when the user carries the phone in their hand or pocket and will only lock when the phone is left lying around. It is not perfect, but what it offers is tremendously useful.

The options Confident face Y Confident voice they are not really exceptions. They are conventional locking methods, which allow you to unlock the screen with your face or voice.

How to activate Smart Lock on Android

Instructions may vary from device to device. For your reference, here’s how to do it in a Motorola Moto G with Android 5.0.2.

Paso 1. Go to Setting > Security > Screen lock. Activate any of the available locking methods: pattern, PIN or password (do not use the “Swipe” method).
Paso 2. Back to screen Security, touch on the option Trusted agents and activate the option Smart Lock (Google).
Paso 3. Return to the screen again Security, select the option Smart Lock and enable any of the options indicated above.

Remember that this option is available on devices with Android 5. For mobiles with another version of Android, there are applications such as Smart Unlock that offer similar functionality.

Note: Do not confuse this Smart Lock for the lock screen with the Smart Lock for passwords, which has another purpose.
