Windows 10 will ask users what the computer is used for

The American corporation Microsoft has released another preliminary build of Windows 10 Insider Preview 20231, to which a new function has been added. After the end of beta testing, the developers plan to include it in the final release, available to all users.

As reported in the official Microsoft blog, the new feature is designed to help maximize PC and OS resources for the current user tasks. Thus, when installing Windows 10 in a separate Customize your device dialog box, the operating system will ask the user for what purpose the computer is used: study, creativity, work, play, entertainment, or family. Depending on which option is chosen, the settings of the operating system will also change. Also, the user can simply skip this step, but in this case he will have to configure the system manually after the installation is complete.

Microsoft has not yet revealed the details of which settings will apply to each option. We can only assume that when choosing a game mode, the performance of the video card and processor will be optimized as much as possible, and for a family use case, it is likely that the installer will offer to create several profiles for each family member.

Also in the new version, the developers will prepare other improvements. In particular, we are talking about file and application association settings, displaying video card data in the “About System” section, integrating the Meet Now messenger into the taskbar and fixing various minor bugs.
