With the NVIDIA hack, the DLSS source code was leaked on the Internet

A few days after the hack to the NVIDIA servers, the cybercriminals responsible for the action began to distribute part of the source code of the DLSS technology through the Internet. A screenshot posted by the Lapsus$ group shows what appear to be several documents tied to the green company’s technology.
While competitors like Intel and AMD have open source solutions, NVIDIA has always been strict with DLSS.

While it has gradually opened up access to the solution to its partners, the current disclosure is likely to cost it millions of dollars. Although the codes cannot be used commercially by any other company, but they can be openly studied.

Hackers threaten to release more information

So far, the company has not revealed the scope of the attack, nor which files and projects were compromised. The only action the company took so far was to fight the perpetrators by encrypting approximately 1TB of data stolen by them, something that proved useless as the attackers had already backed up the information.

Hackers threaten to publish the codes of the LHR system

The DLSS source code information appears to be only a small part of the confidential documents that fell into the hands of Lapsus$. The cybercriminals claim they had access to various device fabrication schemes, as well as details about Blackwell’s future architecture.

The group has threatened NVIDIA to reveal the secrets of LHR technology, which the company uses as a way to limit the use of its GPUs in cryptocurrency mining. Those responsible for the attack want the company itself to publish an update to end this limit, otherwise they promise to publish details of “what the company does not want to be made public” In Internet.

The disclosure of the DLSS codes should prompt the company to work hard with its lawyers and security experts to curb the disclosure and misuse of the material. Proprietary technology has been an important part of the RTX lines, leveraging their Tensor Cores to deliver results considered better than those offered by competing solutions.
