Zaporozhye NPP is operating normally

MOSCOW, 29 Aug – PRIME. Zaporozhye NPP in the conditions of shelling of Energodar is operating normally, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the regional administration, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier it was reported that the shelling of Energodar began on Sunday evening and continued on Monday morning.

“Work is underway at the nuclear power plant. Everything is absolutely calm and normal. The level of radiation is within the norm, and not just the norm, but the natural background that is typical for our regions,” said Rogov.

Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper near Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity. Since March, it has been guarded by the Russian military to prevent leaks of nuclear and radioactive materials. The Ukrainian military continues to regularly shell Energodar, the surrounding villages and the territory of the ZNPP adjacent to the city.
