Zotac tags post about cryptocurrency mining with #gaming

Dissatisfaction among consumers regarding the lack of components and game consoles of the latest cut has been palpable during the autumn and winter. SweClockers has occasionally reported on statements from company representatives such as AMD’s Frank Azor who promised good access to the Radeon RX 6000 series, as well as Intel’s ex-CEO Bob Swans winged words “time to stop focusing on benchmark results” – followed by flawed comparisons between the company’s own and Apple’s products.

Whether these company representatives had good intentions or their heads were temporarily mounted in body openings where natural light does not occur is unclear, but in common they have in any case that they have not created good PR. In a market where the supply of components is already scarce due to growing pains at all stages can also scalpers with the Robin Hood complex and a boom in cryptocurrency mining added – which means that company representatives in the industry do their best in choosing their words with care.

The next company in the order to have bad luck in the thought process is Hong Kong-based Zotac, whose American Twitter account yesterday posted a picture depicting a crypto rig with most of the company’s graphics cards. Seemingly without reflecting on the frustration consumers who can not secure a single card in the RTX 3000 series, the company also knows the tag with the hashtags #gaming and #gamers, which is seen by consumers as something of a mockery.

The post was noticed by, among others, Videocardz, where far-reaching polarizing conclusions were drawn. Among other things, the publication highlights that “Zotac now supports mining with the company’s products” at the same time as “Zotac’s graphics card cannot be found near the recommended price anywhere”. Whether Zotac cares about who buys the company’s graphics card and how many we leave unsaid, but the problem can also thrive at the retail level, as we did yesterday scalpingarticle highlighted.

It seems probable that Zotac will not gain the favor of the average consumer through this initiative – but we will be able to look forward to a more careful use of hashtags on the company’s social media in the future.
