About 40 boxes RTX 3090 from MSI are said to have been stolen

Component manufacturer MSI, based in the Republic of China, has recently had a reluctant presence in the People’s Republic of China, where reports of a factory fire flared up not long ago. New reports are now emerging from Ars Technica (via Techpowerup) claiming that the company has had to endure further reluctance, this time in the form of a theft.

The product-related main role in the theft is held by more than 200 graphics cards of the type Geforce RTX 3090, with a market value of approximately SEK 3 million. According to one statement whose sender is MSI itself, which was later translated, a hit salary of 100,000 yuan has been pledged, corresponding to just over 128,000 kronor.

Recently, high unit price display cards produced by the company have been stolen by criminals. The case has now been reported to the police. At the same time, I also hope that all employees of the company will actively and truthfully report this case.

Crisp machine translations despite the theft are believed to have taken place last week, when the MSI document is dated 4 December. The theft is said to have included 40 boxes of cards or 224 copies of RTX 3090 cards with a market value of 2.2 million yuan or approximately SEK 2.8 million, calculated on the recommended price. According to Ars Technica, on the other hand, an average RTX 3090 auction brings in approximately 2,600 US dollars, which would mean that the cards’ fair value is closer to SEK 4.9 million.

The alleged theft is not the first irregularity surrounding the Taiwanese company in the current year. The company has previously been accused of allowing retailers to sell the company’s RTX 3080 graphics card on Ebay. Whether the lost graphics cards will be repaired or not remains to be seen – possibly it was events that this Nvidia took into account when the company recently warned about scant access to “Ampere” -based graphics cards well into the year 2021.
