Additional sources confirm 24 GB of graphics memory in the Geforce RTX 3090

As Nvidia’s unveiling of the Geforce RTX 3000 “Ampere” approaches, so does the intensity of revelations around the card’s specifications. The latest round of details comes from Videocardz, which claims to have received confirmed data on the amount of graphics memory in the top models Geforce RTX 3090 and Geforce RTX 3080.

The report begins by reaffirming that the flagship is called the Geforce RTX 3090, and that the 3000 series will not receive a Geforce RTX 3080 Ti. As previously stated, the Geforce RTX 3090 is equipped with 24 GB of GDDR6X, which is the same amount that the current TITAN RTX houses then in the GDDR6 version.

The data also confirms that the Geforce RTX 3080 houses 10 GB of GDDR6X. The difference between the two top cards is significantly larger than the current Geforce RTX 2000 series, and one reason for this may be that future Super variants of the Geforce RTX 3080 will offer a more significant difference in memory set compared to the RTX 2000 series Super models.

With the amount of memory in mind, it is likely that the Geforce RTX 3090 will be equipped with a wider memory bus than its simpler sibling with a width of 384 bits. With the 10 GB GDDR6X, the Geforce RTX 3080 can probably take the step down to the 320-bit memory interface. According to previous leaks, the cards’ lowest memory speed should measure in at 19 Gbps, while the Geforce RTX 3090 is said to take the step up to 21 Gpbs.

According to previous reports, Nvidia will also showcase the performance class entry-level model Geforce RTX 3070 during the big unveiling. Nvidia is arranging the next big Geforce event on September 1 at 18:00 Swedish time.
