All about Magisk – GuideSmartPhone.net
All owners of rooted Android phones need to know SuperSU. It has been around for many years now and was the standard for root. However, with the latest applications using Google SafetyNet to check root status and thereby block usability, SuperSU has been almost abandoned in favor of Magisk. Magisk is currently the best alternative to SuperSU, as well as for the future of root. That said, we know there is a lot of confusion about it! If you are confused too, start reading our article.

Magisk is currently the best alternative to Chainfire’s SuperSU. Developed by XDA developer topjohnwu, is indeed much better than SuperSU in some respects. No wonder it has become the default choice of custom ROM developers. Unlike SuperSU which grants or denies root permissions for specific applications, Magisk can completely hide the root from some applications. It means both the banking application, both Pokemon GO that before you could not use on your device, now they can work if you have done the root to your Android phone with Magisk.
The root app works flawlessly, since it does not modify the system partition in any way. This means that you can continue to install official OTA updates without losing the root. The rooting method is based on SuperUser’s phh, which is an open source solution for root on Android, it is a systemless interfacenamely a program that allows you to modify your systemavoiding touching the / system partition of the device: in system modifications you can also acquire root privileges.
This procedure is carried out in order to still have the OTA updates of the devices, as in those containing the MIUI: the / system partition will not be touched and it will be possible to access a whole new world that with the classic root system of the Android device there was impossible. Furthermore, think of Magisk as a mix of SuperSU and Xposed Framework.

How to install
If your device fails to boot, you can always go back to TWRP and restore the previous backup. But if your device boots, go to Google Play and install Magisk Manager. This is like having the SuperSU application and the Xposed Installer application all rolled into one. You can manage root settings and install modules with Magisk Manager. To hide the root of an application, you must first enable it in Magisk settings. Pull out the side menu by moving it from the left edge of the screen and go into settings. Activate the option called Magisk Hide. The option will then be enabled in the side menu. Now you can open and select the applications you want to hide.
Magisk Manager has a download section like Xposed Installer. This can be accessed from the side navigation menu. The download section lists all available modules that can be installed from there. We’ve listed some of the most popular here, but the thread, of course, contains more modules.
To install these modules just start the custom recovery and install them as you have installed the app for the root.

One time installed Magic Manager, you will be presented with a variety of options to change the features. A simple swipe from the left reveals the navigation menu which will present you with a list of various options. Go to “Install” to check the version of Magisk you have installed on your device, as well as check for any updates. In case of updates, you can download and install the new version only from this section. If you go to the “Superuser” section, you can manage which applications you have granted or denied root privileges and modify them according to your needs. Then we find the “Modules” section.
You can use this section to manage modules that are already installed, as well as download any modules that any third party developer might have made but is not yet available on the Magisk repository. The “Download” section is the direct link to the Magisk repository, from which you can directly download and install the modules of your choice. Next, we have the “Magisk Hide” page, which can be used to hide the root from being detected by a specific application. Magisk also offers a “Log” section, which basically, as the name suggests, keeps a log of all Magisk activity. Finally, we have the “Settings” option. Here you can change the various settings of the Magisk framework, such as activate the built-in BusyBox, install support for ad blockers and change the different quick settings.
