AMD, a driver in a hurry to fix a bug with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

A few days after version 21.10.3, AMD has distributed the new driver release Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.10.4 for all Radeon GPU owners, both dedicated and integrated video cards within APUs for desktop and notebook PCs.

The new drivers arrive quickly because go to solve a specific problem with Marvelis Guardians of the Galaxy, the new game from Eidos Montréal that arrives on PC as an “NVIDIA RTX” game, in fact, in addition to ray tracing, DLSS technology is not lacking to improve performance while preserving image quality as much as possible.

“Playing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on some AMD products like the Radeon RX 6800 cards you can see a corruption of the image“, recite the driver release notes. There are no other interventions, but clearly AMD has a vested interest in quickly fixing an issue that could ruin the experience of many game buyers.

However, it is not the only problem that concerns the new title of Eidos Montréal and the Radeon GPUs. Among the known bugs, AMD indicates that a driver timeout may occur on some products such as the Radeon RX 5500 XT. While waiting for the software fix, the workaround is to disable the Radeon Anti-Lag feature in Radeon Software.

You can download the new drivers directly from our site at this address. If you have an NVIDIA GPU system, the latest Guardians game-optimized drivers are the GeForce Game Ready 496.49 WHQL.

On PC, the game is available for purchase in digital stores Epic Store Games, Steam e Square Enix Store. Between recommended requirements (not minimum) we find 80 GB of free disk space, an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 CPU, Intel Core i7-4790 or equivalent, 16 GB of RAM and a dedicated GeForce GTX 1660 Super or AMD Radeon RX 590 video card.

To play with active ray tracing, NVIDIA has released some requirements visible in this news. You need at least a GeForce RTX 2060, but you need to set the title in Full HD with low details and high RT. To enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy at 1440p, high details and very high RT you need at least an RTX 3070. Playing in 4K, Ultra details and RT Ultra requires an RTX 3080. NVIDIA has not clarified whether these PC requirements are with DLSS active or indicated the achievable frame rate. We will soon publish an article with some performance and image quality tests, along the lines of what has been done recently with Far Cry 6.
