AMD is reportedly allowing partner versions of the Radeon RX 6900 XT

The graphics card autumn is rolling on and thanks to today’s launch of the Geforce RTX 3060 Ti, there is really only one card left before the turn of the year – the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT. The upcoming “Big Navi” card is the culmination of the company’s investment in architecture RDNA 2 and is intended to compete with the Geforce RTX 3090 in the ultimate performance segment.

We already know that the Radeon RX 6900 XT will be launched on December 8, but from a partner manufacturer’s point of view, things have been quiet. AMD certainly allowed its partners to sell cards based on the Radeon RX 6800 already at the start of sales, but of the few cards that reached the trade, the majority were of reference design. What it looks like with the upcoming top card is still unconfirmed by AMD, but now information is emerging that suggests that partner manufacturers have been given the go-ahead to develop their own versions of the Radeon RX 6900 XT.

Where the information about the setup in October seemed to be limited to AMD cards of reference design with the partner manufacturers’ stickers, Chinese Mydrivers now believe that these are free to develop their own variants of the Radeon RX 6900 XT. In practice, the manufacturers are most likely more than ready for this and are only waiting for graphics circuits to mount on its printed circuit board, as the same configuration with the Navi 21 circuit and 16 GB of GDDR6 memory is also used by the Radeon RX 6800 cards.

Radeon RX 6900 XT will also be sold with the same clock frequencies as little brother RX 6800 XT, where the difference is instead the number of available calculation units and a higher overclocking ceiling for the graphics circuit – up to 3,000 MHz. In addition, AMD recommends a power supply of as much as 850 watts for the RX 6900 XT, compared to the RX 6800 XT and 750 watts.
