Those who are craving a new graphics card will have a great opportunity to upgrade when AMD lowers the prices of three graphics cards in the Radeon HD 7000 series, but not just any models. This time it is the flagships Radeon HD 7970, HD 7950 and HD 7870 Gigahertz Edition that will be cheaper.
Recommended prices
Launch | Current | New price | |
---|---|---|---|
HD 7970 | 549 USD | 479 USD | 429 USD |
HD 7950 | 449 USD | 399 USD | 349 USD |
HD 7870 GHz Ed. | 349 USD | 349 USD | 299 USD |
First of all, the price of the Radeon HD 7970 is lowered from 479 to 429 USD. At Swedish retailers, this should be able to be translated into a new target price of approximately SEK 3,795. The Radeon HD 7950 also steps down by USD 50 and ends up at USD 349, or around SEK 3,099 including VAT.
The midrange Radeon HD 7870 Gigahertz Edition is adjusted from 349 to 299 USD. The new target price is thus approximately SEK 2,625 including VAT. Thanks to the usual price pressure, however, many models are already available for about the same amount.
AMD also takes the opportunity to attract upgraders with games on the purchase. Anyone who acquires a Radeon HD 7870 can look forward to the racing game Dirt Showdown while the more luxurious Radeon HD 7970 and 7950 are bundled with a coupon for three optional titles from the DirectX 11 generation to a value of approximately USD 100.
