Performance models in all glory, for many hobby players out in the cabins, it is the middle class that applies when new graphics cards are on the shopping list. The spring menu in the segment includes the Radeon HD 7770 “Cape Verde XT”, the direct successor to today’s HD 5770/6770 “Juniper XT” and AMD’s simplest variant with the new architecture Graphics Core Next (GCN).
Now the user “bigpao007” through the Chinese forum Chiphell takes the opportunity to share both pictures, information and performance tests for the newcomer. The model reportedly has a GPU frequency of as much as 1,000 MHz in the standard configuration, 2 GB of memory at 4,500 MHz on a 128-bit memory bus and an estimated TDP value of 90-100 W.
In terms of performance, the card gives 3,421 points in Performance mode and 1,077 points in Extreme mode for 3DMark 11, interestingly enough together with the not yet launched Intel Ivy Bridge processor Core i5 3550K. That means numbers just below the current Radeon HD 6850, and well above its predecessor the Radeon HD 6770.
The Radeon HD 7770 will most likely reach the market in the spring, and the price tag is expected to be around USD 150 – equivalent to SEK 1,300 including VAT.
