No one can have escaped AMD rolling out a new generation of graphics cards in the Radeon series. It all started in early October with models for virtually all important price ranges – but the best is saved in the end. Now it’s finally time to put your teeth into the worsting model Radeon R9 290X.
Unlike other models in the Volcanic Islands series, the Radeon R9 290X is based on a new graphics processor. The name to remember is Hawaii, which describes a giant circuit with as many as 6.2 billion transistors and theoretical performance of over five teraflops. In other words, it flares up to battle in the highest performance class.
