AMD Radeon RX 590 finds out in performance test for Final Fantasy XV

In the summer of 2016, AMD unveiled the Polaris graphics architecture, where the Polaris 10 graphics circuit is located. among other things, comes with increased clock frequencies.

According to information, another round of Polaris-based graphics cards will be on the way, and information about the Polaris 30 graphics circuit and the Radeon RX 590 card has been found on the web. Previously, performance figures for the said product have appeared in databases for synthetic tests, and now the graphics card also makes an entry in the database for the performance test in the game Final Fantasy XV from Square Enix.

These are results in the resolutions 2,560 × 1,440 and 3,840 × 2,160 pixels in several different graphics settings. With a resolution of 2,560 × 1,440 pixels and default settings, the Geforce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of graphics memory is about seven percent behind the Radeon RX 590’s 4,802 points. Radeon RX 590 is generally stronger than Geforce GTX 1060, but with the settings increased to High an exception appears and the model lands 15 points behind the Geforce GTX 1060.

In 4K UHD resolution with Highsettings, the Radeon RX 590 is also around seven percent faster, with 2,122 points against 1,984 for Nvidia’s competitor. It is worth noting, however, that in SweClocker’s rapid test with the same resolution and settings, the Geforce GTX 1060 delivered an average of 23 frames per second, which means that the higher performance has a marginal effect on the frame rate.

The Polaris 30 graphics circuit is rumored to take the step down to manufacturing at 12 nanometers, and should thus be able to pick up higher clock frequencies for the same energy consumption. It was recently reported that Asus is said to be working on a Radeon RX 590 model, and in the database for Final Fantasy XV, a card signed by the company can be seen in the 4K UHD test. In terms of performance, the Geforce GTX 1060 is about three percent behind this card.
