AMD releases driver with Multi-GPU support with Radeon RX Vega

For a number of years now, both AMD and Nvidia have offered users the opportunity to use more than one graphics card at the same time, where they can collaborate to, in theory, provide better performance. However, this does not always work painlessly, which is why the two manufacturers have recently put less and less focus on the function.

Now AMD announces that the company’s latest driver Radeon Software 17.9.2 introduces support for Multi-GPU, formerly called Crossfire, where both the Radeon RX Vega 56 and Radeon RX Vega 64 can be run in a set of two cards simultaneously.

In connection with this, AMD also publishes performance tests made with Radeon RX Vega 64 in single and Multi-GPU set. The six game titles that are tested show an increase in performance in all of them, where for example Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor goes from 50 to 91 frames per second.

In addition to the Multi-GPU support, the driver also includes support and optimizations for the upcoming racing game Project Cars 2. Radeon Software 17.9.2 is available to download now via AMD’s website and through the company’s software.
