AMD says chip shortage will last until 2023, and may improve somewhat in the second half of 2022

Mark Papermaster, AMD Chief Technology Officer, is one of the most respected figures in the semiconductor industry. As he is responsible for the company’s recent successes in the CPU market, he has been a linchpin with Ryzen CPUs after the Bulldozer CPU disaster. In a recent interview with BusinessLine, I spoke a bit about the industry and where AMD stands, especially with the current chip shortage.

In our markets, we will see a decrease in supply in the second half of 2022 to 2023. It is then that we will be projecting the normality of supply and demand.

Papermaster Predicts Supply Chains Will Begin Freeing Up By Second Half Of 2022, and normalcy will return to the semiconductor industry by 2023. That’s more than a year from now and overall, that would be 3 years of chip shortage.

“In 2021, we have forecast 65% revenue growth over 2020. We can achieve that growth, only thanks to the excellent work of our supply chain,” he said. Papermaster.

AMD has excellent sales growth, expected to reach 65% (YoY) by fiscal 2022.

According to Papermaster, the chipmaker’s close relationships with manufacturers and suppliers have allowed it to have more stock and even prosper, quite the opposite of what happened to its archrival Intel, which experienced a certain stagnation in 2021.
