AMD will begin delivering the next generation of graphics cards in October

Nvidia has received most of the spotlight during the graphics card launches in 2013 in the upper price ranges, but in the near future AMD plans to launch its new generation “Volcanic Islands”. First out is the graphics processor “Hawaii”, which will be used in the company’s upcoming flagship.

The industry magazine Digitimes reports that partner manufacturers, including Asus, MSI and Powercolor, will begin deliveries of the first graphics card based on the Hawaii graphics processor in October. The approaching graphics card must have been one of the reasons for AMD’s latest price reduction, especially of the Radeon HD 7990.

At the same time, it is noted that Nvidia has no immediate plans for a price reduction ahead of AMD’s new graphics processor. The company will instead wait for the launch of Hawaii and then make a decision on whether a price adjustment is necessary.
