Apple is not going to release its cryptocurrency

Apple CEO Tim Cook (Tim Cook) said that the IT giant is not going to release its own cryptocurrency.

“I really think that currency control should remain in the hands of the state. I don’t like the idea that some private group can launch a competing currency, ”Cook said in an interview with the French newspaper Les Echos.

Recently, Apple Pay Vice President Jennifer Bailey told CNN that the company is eyeing the cryptocurrency industry. However, according to Cook, such an interest will certainly not lead to the development of its own digital currency.

“The currency, as well as the defense of the nation, should remain in the hands of the government, because this is the main task of the state. We ourselves choose representatives to parliament so that they fulfill their functions. Companies were not elected by us, so we should not go in this direction, ”he said.

In August, it became known that Apple will limit its credit card users in some functions. So, a credit card cannot be used to purchase cryptocurrencies, games in casinos, betting at bookmakers and buying lottery tickets.
