The number of SegWit transactions in the Bitcoin network suddenly increased in September

The number of SegWit transactions in the Bitcoin network unexpectedly increased in September – if previously only 40% of transactions used the update on average, now this figure has increased to 55%.

SegWit is an optional protocol update for various blockchains, which allows you to collect more transactions in one block, which reduces their cost. Depending on various parameters, SegWit allows increasing the number of records in one block up to 25%.

Earlier this week, the CEO of the largest cryptocurrency exchange Binance, Changpeng Zhao, announced that his company plans to introduce SegWit to the site by the end of the 1st quarter of next year.

Recall that the Segregated Witness (SegWit) update was activated on the first cryptocurrency network in August 2017.
