Asrock predicts cheaper graphics cards during the third quarter of 2021

Demand for graphics cards has been very high since AMD and Nvidia lifted the cover of the new Radeon RX 6000 and Geforce RTX 3000 series in the autumn of 2020. However, the supply has not been nearly enough to meet demand, with high prices and month-long queues as a result. In addition to gamblers have miners put their hands on a large proportion of the cards, where these crypto-breaking players bought 25 percent of the volumes in the first quarter of 2021.

Now Asrock suggests that the interest in buying graphics cards in China miningpurpose is on the decline and that lower prices on graphics cards are waiting. This is reported by the industry magazine Digitimes, which has read Asrock’s forecasts for the future. Despite the lack of circulation, the manufacturer’s finances have increased steadily in recent quarters, and the development is forecast to follow the beaten track.

ASRock expects its sales to grow sequentially in the third quarter, despite component shortages and dropping graphics card prices amid shrinking demand from China’s cryptomining sector[…]

[…]ASRock’s motherboard shipments are being undermined by shortages of Intel and AMD CPUs and the issue is unlikely to improve until the fourth quarter, said the company. AMD’s GPUs have also been in tight supply since early 2021, but shipments will improve starting the second half, with capacity adjustments and increasing supply of substrates.

The shortage of components and circuits is said to continue during the third quarter of the year, which is in line with information from other players. Despite this, it is claimed that AMD’s graphics cards will be sold in larger volumes during the second half of the year, which is good news for those looking for graphics hardware. The mentioned price reduction for graphics cards seems to apply regardless of the card, but it remains to be seen whether the products will then approach the target prices at today’s imaginatively low target prices.

In addition, there is a possibility that price reductions coincide with a wider range in the second-hand market, if crypto-breakers choose to retire parts of the systems. In conclusion, it can be added that Asrock’s statement should not be seen as a guarantee that the supply of graphics cards will be good during the year, as demand remains very high and production opportunities are limited.
