Asrock releases Radeon RX 5700 XT Taichi X factory overclocked to 2,040 MHz

The Taiwanese manufacturer Asrock has previously focused mainly on motherboards and ready-made computer solutions. In 2018, however, it was time to broaden the portfolio, where the company’s Phantom Gaming models were launched exclusively for AMD’s Radeon RX 500 series. Subsequently, the company was one of the first to launch third-party models for the Navi family.

First out was the Challenger model series for the Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT, which was positioned close to the reference models in terms of price. Now the company has finally unveiled a more lavish model – Radeon RX 5700 XT Taichi X. Here you can see a large cooler and a factory overclocking beyond the ordinary.

Compared to the Challenger series’ stripped-down look, the Taichi series gets a more extravagant ditto, with RGB-lit center fan and a radiator cover in both black and a light golden color. The metal cover plate follows the same theme and is decorated with gears.

The center fan measures in at 80 mm in diameter, while the two outer fans land at 90 mm. All come with semi-passive operation. The heat sink is also large, which makes the model take up 2.5 expansion slots in the chassis. To counteract deformations, a metal frame is mounted between the heat sink and circuit board.

Furthermore, the power supply gets an upgrade, with two 8-pin connectors and 10 + 1 phases for the voltage regulation to the graphics circuit and the respective memories. With an extended power supply, Asrock takes the opportunity to push up the frequencies of the graphics circuit, to 2,040 MHz and 1,885 MHz in turbo and base frequencies, respectively.

This can be compared to AMD’s reference model which clocks in at more modest 1,905 and 1,605 MHz. The graphics memory remains at 8 GB GDDR6, and the memory speed also stays at the reference version’s 14,000 MHz.

Finally, there is a solid set of video outputs in the form of four Displayports and two HDMI 2.0. It is also worth mentioning that the graphics card comes with two BIOS, which users can switch between with a switch on the circuit board.

Price and launch date are not yet known. Asrock has previously had a limited presence on the Swedish market, but the company’s motherboards have on several occasions been common on store shelves.
