Asus laptops, here are the RTX 3000 GPU configurations that you will find on the various models,As reported in the past few weeks,Nvidia chose to do not use the words Max-Q to indicate the GPU GeForce RTX 3000 optimized for thinner notebooks, characterized by a lower TGP – son of lower clocks for GPU and VRAM – compared to the “more pumped” versions of the same GPU. As they would exist altogether up to 28 different configurations of RTX 3000, the risk for users to buy a less performing notebook compared to what was budgeted and needs.
Nvidia has explained to us the reasons behind its choice (Max-Q no longer embodies the mere value of the TGP) and has the burden of correct information on consumers has been turned over on notebook manufacturers. Waiting for all producers to adapt the product pages on the sites by entering the TGP data and / or frequencies, as well as all the information in both online and physical stores (and this will be the difficult aspect),
after MSI, Asus also sheds light on the GPU configurations used on their RTX 3000 notebooks.
The information comes from the Dutch site
Tweakers, which he managed to get from the Taiwanese company a list that sheds light on which versions of Nvidia GPUs we will find on the different notebook models – provided that there are no configuration changes (unlikely) based on the country of sale. It then turns out that, for example, the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE has GPUs with TGP of 115W and the same goes for the ROG Strix (Scar) 17/15 models. Thinner and lighter products like the TUF Dash F15 instead offer chips with TGP up to 80W.
The Zephyrus G14, a notebook that was talked about a lot last year in the version with a Ryzen 4000 APU, adopts an RTX 3060 with a TGP of 60W. The data “TGP GPU max” that you see in the child table of a margin which can be accessed by activating the “Dynamic Boost” item from the Nvidia control panel. It should be noted that Asus internally uses the Max-Q wording for some chip models, although officially it will not be applied:

We expect other notebook manufacturers to communicate these details, if not to us to consumers via the product pages on the sites so that they can better inform themselves before a purchase. In case they do not do this, the only possibility to know the exact configuration of the Nvidia GPU present on a given model will be to rely on the reviews or contact the customer service of the company and / or the trusted dealer (but not said that is decisive).
