Asus launches Geforce GTX 650 without extra power supply

Although larger and more lavish models get the most media attention, the budget and middle class sell the most. One of the real bestsellers is the Geforce GTX 650 with the graphics processor GK107, which Asus is sticking to with two new models in the price range around a thousand kronor.

The new Asus Geforce GTX 650-E does not need a 6-pin PCI Express for the power supply. Instead, all power is drawn from the motherboard’s PCI Express connector, more specifically “up to 75 watts”. The fact that the graphics card does not require any extra cable is an adaptation for older and weaker power supplies.

Otherwise, the GK107 graphics processor is found with 384 CUDA cores, 32 texture units and a clock frequency of 1,071 MHz. There is 1 or 2 GB GDDR5 memory (5.0 GHz) on the 128-bit memory bus and video connections for VGA, DVI-D and HDMI. The length of the graphics card is 19.8 centimeters.

Asus Geforce GTX 650-E with 1 GB or 2 GB GDDR5 memory costs SEK 950 and SEK 1,200, respectively, including VAT.
