Asus releases Geforce GTX 780 DC2 OC with updated cooler

Nvidia’s launch of the Geforce GTX 780 does not go unnoticed. At Computex 2013, the partner manufacturers presented a number of new graphics cards with lavish coolers and tuned clock frequencies. Now Asus presents a new model with an updated version of the popular radiator DirectCU II.

The Asus Geforce GTX 780 DirectCU 2 OC is based on Nvidia’s GK110 graphics processor with 2,304 CUDA cores, 384-bit memory bus and 3 GB of memory. The clock frequency is increased up to 941 MHz boost, which can be compared to the reference model’s 900 MHz. The memory, on the other hand, remains unchanged at 6.0 GHz GDDR5.

The big news is a redesigned variant of the radiator DirectCU 2, which this time contains heat pipes with a diameter of 10 millimeters. At the same time, two different types of fans are added, one of which is a hybrid design and is recognizable from the Asus GTX 670 DC Mini. The surface of the heat sink is larger than before and in addition, both the fan cover and the back piece are made of metal.

More details are power supply via 6 + 8-pin PCI Express connectors, digital voltage control via Asus Digi + and that the graphics card takes up an extra card space. In addition, connections are visible for two DVIs, Displayport and HDMI.

Asus’ new graphics card will be on sale in about two weeks. Some price information is not yet known.
