Azerbaijan speaks about gas supplies to Bulgaria

BAKU, 1 Oct – PRIME. Azerbaijani natural gas will meet the needs of Bulgaria by 25-30%, follows from the press service of the President of Azerbaijan.

Italian Eni: Gazprom announced the impossibility of supplying gas on Saturday

The opening ceremony of the Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) gas interconnector was held in Sofia on Saturday, through which Azerbaijani gas will be delivered from the Shah Deniz-2 field. The ceremony was attended by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. IGB will deliver to Bulgaria natural gas produced at the Azerbaijani Shah Deniz-2 field.

“The annual capacity of the gas pipeline will be 3 billion cubic meters. In the future, this figure can be increased to 5 billion cubic meters per year. Thus, Azerbaijani natural gas will meet the needs of Bulgaria by 25-30%,” the press release says.

The total length of the interconnector connecting the gas transmission networks of Bulgaria and Greece is 182 kilometers, the cost is more than 240 million euros.

The transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe began at the end of 2020 with the commissioning of the last segment of the Southern Gas Corridor – TAP. At present, the buyers of Azerbaijani gas are Turkey, Georgia, Greece, Bulgaria, Albania and Italy.
