The Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange has filed a subpoena of the former top manager of the bank TCA Bancorp, serving the trust company Crypto Capital, which froze more than $ 880 million of the exchange’s funds.
A California court filed a petition for the interrogation of Rondell Clyde Monroe, the former vice president of TCA Bancorp. The exchange also asks for access to documentation on the interaction of Monroe with employees of the Crypto Capital trust company.
Representatives of Bitfinex believe that Crypto Capital used one or more accounts with TCA to transfer funds that belong to the exchange. According to a statement by Bitfinex, Monroe owns the information and documents necessary for a refund.
The exchange said that in August 2018, government departments in Poland and Portugal froze over $ 500 million in funds owned by Bitfinex on Crypto Capital accounts. In addition, another $ 300 million is stored in TCA on the accounts of Global Trade Solutions AG (GTS), which operates under the name Crypto Capital.
Bitfinex wants to interrogate Monroe, as well as learn about his interaction with Crypto Capital top manager Ozzie Yosef, his sister Ravid Yosef, the sole shareholder of Global Trade Solutions Dennis Fowler and his son Trent Fowler ( Trent Fowler).
Recall that at the end of April, the New York State Attorney General filed a lawsuit against iFinex, behind Bitfinex and Tether. In addition, a class action lawsuit has recently been filed with the Southern District Court of New York against $ 1.4 trillion worth of stablecoin cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex and the Tether stablecoin issuer.
