Fake ZecWallet Wallet Detected on GitHub

Zcash community members have discovered on GitHub a potentially malicious fake version of the ZecWallet wallet.

According to records on the social network Twitter published on October 20, the fake ZecWallet wallet probably contains malware. The message says:

“Attention to all Zcash users! There is a fake version of ZecWallet that probably contains malware (the size and checksum are different). Make sure you download the wallet application from the official ZecWallet repository on GitHub: https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/zecwallet. ”

Zcash infrequently finds itself in the center of discussions about vulnerabilities and other security issues. In February, Zcash developers said they fixed a catastrophic error in the code last year that could be used for unlimited coin issuance.

Recently it became known that a special Zcash cryptocurrency update will be developed in the next six months, introducing a token compatible with the Ethereum blockchain. Thanks to this, cryptocurrency can become a kind of conductor for automated loans and financial products.
