Borrell spoke about the consequences of sanctions for Russian energy

BRUSSELS, 5th — PRIME. Western sanctions in the field of energy have not deprived Russia of revenues from the sale of fuel, but they may hinder the development of the energy industry, said the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell.

“Russia continues to receive money from the export of gas and oil, sanctions cannot prevent this, especially given the rise in prices. But in terms of giving a technological impetus to the industry, the impact of EU sanctions is very large and will be even greater,” he said.

The official explained that without Western technology and companies, Russia would not be able to develop its oil and gas fields. According to him, the sanctions have a particularly strong impact on the high-tech sectors of the Russian economy, which, in addition to oil and gas, also include aviation.
