British tax authorities want tool to track crypto-cybercriminals

HMRC (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs) launched a call for tenders for the design of a tool identifying the cybercriminals using crypto-currencies.

Posted on Friday on the website of HMRC, the tender is currently underway and will end at the end of January.

“Provide a tool that will support information gathering methods to identify and group crypto-transactions in related transactions and identify those related to cryptographic service providers, ”says the description of the tender.

Through this initiative, the HMRC looking for technology to track down cybercriminals using cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, reports the London media PublicTechnology.

The solution must be able to achieve " cluster analyzes In order to allocate transactions to businesses or service providers, including those known to run gambling services, transactions on the Dark web or crypto-mixing sites.

It must be compatible with the main blockchains such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, XRP, Litecoin and if possible with anonymous blockchains as Monero, Dash and Zcash.

Sources said last year that the HMRC was seeking information on investor activity from the country's major cryptocurrency exchanges.

Last May, the French interior ministry also launched a call for tenders for a blockchain analysis solutions allowing to trace the fraudulent crypto-transactions.
