Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse doubts the successful launch of Libra. In his opinion, if the project is still to be launched, then no earlier than 2022.
In an interview with Fortune, Garlinghouse noted that when they announced the development of Libra, he was very pleased with this event and the possible interest of people in other cryptocurrency projects. CEO Ripple even sent a congratulatory bottle of champagne to Libra. But now he is very disappointed in stablecoin and does not wait for the imminent start of the project.
“I would put that Libra … well, let’s say, by the end of 2022 it will not be launched. The point is the strong pressure from regulators. And I would say that if it weren’t Facebook for Libra, it would be much easier for the project to develop. A social network is unhappy with a large number of states. Although Facebook claims it will not launch Libra without regulatory approval, I think it will be a very difficult way, ”said Garlinghouse.
Recall that last week several companies, including Visa and Mastercard, decided to reconsider their participation in the project, and PayPal confirmed
complete rejection of it. But this does not prevent some exchanges from introducing trading rates for launching Libra according to the plan, that is, until the end of next year.
