Chrome Pick up where you left off, feature doesn’t work – Easy Steps

Chrome Pick up where you left off, feature doesn’t work

Chrome should restart when it updates. It can also crash at times. It will also close the browser when it is done with work and reopen it the next day, possibly on the same page. To make this all easier, that is, to pick up where you left off, Chrome has a continuity feature.

Chrome: pick up where you left off

Chrome’s pick up where you left off feature remembers which tabs were last opened. When you close your browser, if it crashes or if you need to restart, it uses this information to reopen those tabs. If the feature doesn’t work, make sure you’ve turned it on.

  1. Opened Chrome.
  2. Click on the more options button and select Settings from the menu.
  3. Scroll down to In the home section.
  4. Select the Pick up where you left off.
  5. If the option is enabled and it doesn’t work, try the solutions below.

1. Open multiple windows

If you had tabs open in multiple windows, Chrome may not be able to open all of them. It usually opens only one window and the tabs that were open in it. Open another window and other tabs will open in it.

2. Check / disable extensions

Extensions can sometimes interfere with picking up where you left off. Disable the extensions and then check if it works.

  1. Opened Chrome.
  2. Click on the more options button in the upper right and select More tools> Extensions.
  3. Turn the turn off next to each extension.
  4. Close and reopen Chrome.
  5. You the tabs will reopen.

3. Create a new Chrome profile

A Chrome profile can be corrupted and this can cause problems with Chrome features. The simplest solution is to create a new profile.

  1. Opened Chrome.
  2. Click on your profile icon at the top.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Login to name for the new profile.
  5. Delete the old profile.
  6. Login to your Google account in the new profile.
  7. Your data will be synced to it and you can start using it.

4. Restablecer Chrome

If the feature still doesn’t work, restart Chrome.

  1. Opened Chrome.
  2. Click on the more options button in the upper right.
  3. Select configuration from the menu.
  4. Click on Advanced on the bottom.
  5. Scroll to the end.
  6. Click Restore the settings to their original default values.
  7. Click Reset settings.

5. Clean install of Chrome

If resetting doesn’t fix the problem and neither does the new profile, you can do a clean install of Chrome.

  1. Opened Chrome.
  2. Paste this in the location bar: chrome://version
  3. Copy the Link to your profile.
  4. Open the link in File Explorer.
  5. To close Chrome.
  6. Go to the Chrome root folder and delete it.
  7. Opened Control Panel.
  8. Go to Programs> Uninstall a program.
  9. Select Chrome and click the Uninstall button.
  10. Download Chrome and install it again.

conclusion

Chrome’s pick up where it left off normally has issues with multiple windows. The way to avoid this is to open a second window. Other tabs that you had open will open on it. As for multiple profiles, a profile will not pick up where it left off until you open a window of the profile itself.
